Charlie Nicholas is tipping Tottenham Hotspur to ease to a 2-1 win against Real Madrid in the Champions League at Wembley on Wednesday night.
The north London side played out a 1-1 draw with the Champions League holders in their last European outing after Cristiano Ronaldo cancelled out Raphael Varane’s own goal.
Tottenham were 4-1 winners against Liverpool at Wembley in the Premier League since their last Champions League fixture after Harry Kane scored twice against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Spurs suffered a setback in the Premier League last weekend after Manchester United striker Anthony Martial scored a late winner secured a 1-0 victory over Tottenham at Old Trafford.
Kane missed the clash against the Red Devils due to a hamstring problem but the 24-year-old could return to the Tottenham side for their home clash against Real Madrid.
Former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas is tipping Tottenham to secure a famous win against Real Madrid at Wembley in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
“I would think Harry Kane would be very keen to play this but I would think it would be one hell of a risk,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“Hamstrings take a long time to settle down fully, even if he does feel fit to play.
“Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to play him but he is a strong enough character to think his side are virtually through and if there’s any doubt then it is not worth it.
“Real Madrid had a shocking result losing to Girona on Sunday and if Kane is fully fit then they are there for the taking.
“They look all over the place and looking to blame each other, with Sergio Ramos likely to be up to his old tricks and Cristiano Ronaldo unhappy with the physical treatment he’ll get from Tottenham’s defence.”
Real Madrid won back-to-back Champions League titles thanks to a 4-1 victory over Serie A giants Juventus in the final last season.
Los Blancos lost 2-1 to Catalan minnows Girona in their last La Liga fixture ahead of a trip to London.
