Michael Owen is tipping Tottenham Hotspur to make a swift return to winning ways against Stoke City at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.

The Lilywhites have endured a tough run of results in the Premier League following four games without a win to leave Tottenham in seventh place.

Spurs lost 1-0 to title rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford at the end of October before a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

However, Tottenham suffered a surprise 2-0 loss to Arsenal in the north London derby at the Emirates Stadium before a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at Wembley.

2015 Premier League champions Leicester City edged to a 2-1 victory over last season’s runners-up at the King Power Stadium.

Spurs were forced to settle for a 2-2 stalemate with Watford at Vicarage Road last weekend and were perhaps fortunate to lose to another of their London rivals.

Former Liverpool striker Owen is tipping Tottenham to finally secure a return to winning ways in the Premier League when Stoke make the trip to Wembley on Saturday afternoon.

“Spurs have disappointed in the PL so far this term and they badly need to get back to winning ways if they are to mount a top four challenge,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Indeed Mauricio Pochettino’s side are currently nearer the bottom of the table (16 points) to the top of the table (18 points) which is something of a surprise given their excellent league record in the last couple of years.

“Premier League history will be made at Wembley if the hosts beat Stoke by four or more goals given Spurs have won the last three PL games between the sides 4-0.

“No side has ever beaten another opponent by four or more goals in four successive PL games but a return to winning ways in the league is far more important for the north London outfit.”

Tottenham finished in second place in the Premier League last term following a third-place finish in the 2015-16 season.

Spurs are now facing a challenge to finish in the English top flight’s top four.
