Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the signing of Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, according to a report in England.
The Sun is reporting that the Ligue 1 side have signed Brazilian Jean Lucas from Flamengo ahead of Ndombele’s imminent departure.
The same article states that Spurs are prepared to make a club-record £60m bid for the defensive midfielder in order to get a deal over the line.
According to the same story, the French midfielder has been hailed as the “new N’Golo Kante” thanks to his brilliant performances in Ligue 1.
The Sun goes on to report that Spurs have been keeping tabs on Ndombele since he broke on the French scene with Amiens back in 2016.
Ndombele scored one goal and made seven assists in 34 appearances in Ligue 1 last season to underline his growing reputation.
The Lyon number 28 netted two goals in seven games in the Champions League as the French side were eliminated in the round of 16.
Tottenham lost 2-0 to Liverpool FC in the Champions League final in Madrid following goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi.
Spurs finished in fourth place in the Premier League to continue their record of finishing in the Champions League spots under Mauricio Pochettino.
Tottenham failed to sign any players in the 2018 summer transfer window.
