Tottenham transfers: Andre Villas-Boas hails David Villa as one of the world's best strikers amid reported interest in the Barcelona man

Andre Villas-Boas has spoken of his admiration for Barcelona striker David Villa – but rubbished claims Tottenham Hotspur are chasing Croatian striker Rebic.
The Spurs boss has been linked with a host of names in recent weeks as the north Londoner look to secure their place in next season’s Champions League.
And although the 35-year-old coach rates Villa as one of the best strikers in the world, the Tottenham manager refused to comment on transfer speculation ahead of their must-win clash against Sunderland at White Hart Lane.
“He is one of the world’s best strikers,” Villas-Boas told a news conference on Friday.
“What comes out of speculation at this time at Tottenham is very surreal because you know the club is very active in the last weeks of the transfer window, so you can see that speculation is growing – but at the moment we are focused on trying to get fourth spot.”
Villas-Boas added: “Rebic? I have no idea who this player is, I’m sorry. I don’t know where this news has come form, not out of disrespect to the player but he’s not someone I’m looking at.”
Villa has scored nine goals in 14 La Liga starts this season, with the Spain international struggling to hold down a first-team place at Camp Nou.
