Tottenham transfers: Tim Sherwood outlines January plans
Tottenham transfers: Tim Sherwood remains coy when quizzed over speculation linking Spurs with Joleon Lescott

Tim Sherwood remained coy when quizzed about the speculation linking Tottenham with a January swoop for Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott.
The north Londoners, along with Newcastle, have been reported to be keen on luring the 31-year-old England international to White Hart Lane on loan.

However, the newly-appointed Spurs boss insists that it is too early in the mid-season transfer window to be thinking about potential new signings.
“We’re not looking for any players at the moment,” Sherwood told a news conference on Friday.
“We’re just looking in that treatment room and trying to see if it can empty a little bit. And when it does, we can assess what we need and what we might need.
“He [Lescott] is a good player but there’s a lot of good players at different clubs. He’s with Man City at the moment so we can’t comment on that.”
Sherwood does, however, feel that he would have the backing of the Tottenham board should he identify a transfer target that he would like to bring in.
“I think the club have notoriously backed their managers [in the transfer market] and I don’t think they’ll be different with me,” he continued.
“But I really think we’re fine once we get everyone fit.
“I think it would have to be like that [that the manager would identify the targets] and I think it’s always been like that.”
