Charlie Nicholas is tipping Tottenham Hotspur to romp to a 4-0 victory over Newcastle United in front of their home fans this weekend.

The Lilywhites head into the game on the back of claiming a point in their 2-2 draw with defending champions Manchester City last weekend.

Tottenham are aiming to establish themselves as genuine title challengers this season and they have taken four points from their opening two games, following a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa on the opening weekend.

Spurs are now preparing to host Newcastle United, who are without a win so far this season under Steve Bruce.

And former Arsenal star Nicholas is fully expecting to see Spurs claim a dominant victory over the Magpies at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Nicholas said: “Newcastle lacked ambition and togetherness against Norwich but you can’t just point the finger at Steve Bruce and say it’s because Rafa Benitez has gone, because they started slow last season too.

“It takes this team a bit of time to get going. Joelinton had no service at all and Miguel Almiron was the same. He is about pace and counter-attacking but couldn’t get in the game.

“I was not impressed with Newcastle, but I think Bruce will be working with them all week to say ‘this isn’t good enough, if we sit in and wait to get beaten then we will get beaten’.

“They need to have more ambition when they have the ball. The problem is I don’t see them getting enough of the ball to trouble Spurs.

“Spurs will be quite happy with the way they have started. They were lucky to get a draw against Manchester City but I think this will be a comfortable win.”

Spurs finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season as they continued their impressive run of sealing Champions League qualification under Mauricio Pochettino.

Next Sunday, Spurs will travel to local rivals Arsenal to face the Gunners at The Emirates.

The Lilywhites are then set to take on Crystal Palace, Leicester and Southampton in their next three Premier League games after that.
