Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Tottenham v Sheffield United
Mark Lawrenson is backing Tottenham to ease to a 2-0 win against Sheffield United on Saturday
Mark Lawrenson is backing Tottenham Hotspur to beat Sheffield United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Lilywhites will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League following their difficult run of results over the past couple of weeks.
Tottenham are winless in the Premier League in their last four games following a run of two defeats and two draws.
Spurs haven’t won a top-flight fixture since their 2-1 victory over relegation candidates Southampton in north London in September.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men are in 11th place in the Premier League table following back-to-back fixtures on Merseyside.
Tottenham squandered the lead at Anfield and Goodison Park to lose 2-1 to Liverpool FC before a 1-1 draw at Everton.
Sheffield United, on the other hand, were 3-0 winners against Burnley last weekend to hoist themselves up to sixth place in the table.
The promoted side are three points ahead of Tottenham following a return of 16 points from their opening 11 fixtures back in the English top flight.
Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson is backing Spurs to beat Sheffield United despite the visitors’ impressive record on the road.
“Sheffield United continue to impress me but I am going for a Tottenham win here,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“I am just a little loath to do so because, away from home, the Blades are still unbeaten and always seem to play well too.
“But that run has to end somewhere and the signs are that Spurs are getting back to their usual selves.”
Tottenham have finished in the Premier League’s top four in the last four seasons.
Spurs lost 2-0 to Liverpool FC in the Champions League final last term.
