Michael Owen is backing Tottenham Hotspur to beat Sheffield United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Spurs will be looking to record their first Premier League win since September following a difficult run of results in the top flight.

The Lilywhites haven’t secured three points in the English top flight since a 2-1 win against Southampton in north London on 28 September.

Spurs lost 2-1 to Liverpool FC at Anfield last month despite Harry Kane breaking the deadlock at Anfield, before 10-man Tottenham drew 1-1 with Everton at Goodison Park last weekend in spite of Dele Alli’s opener.

Tottenham are already 10 points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea FC to leave Mauricio Pochettino’s side with an uphill battle to continue their run of securing a Champions League qualification spot.

Sheffield United are in sixth position in the Premier League table following their 3-0 rout against Burnley last weekend.

The promoted side have barely put a foot wrong since their return to the English top flight.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Tottenham to edge past Sheffield United in north London on Saturday afternoon.

“Sheffield United are unbeaten on the road in the league so far this season but I expect Spurs to end that proud record on Saturday although they won’t have things all their own way against a Blades side who have been a revelation so far this term,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Spurs cannot afford any more slip-ups if they are to mount a serious challenge for a top-four spot and Mauricio Pochettino will hope to be able to call on the services of Harry Kane who missed Sunday’s draw on Merseyside through illness.”

Tottenham have collected 10 points from their opening five fixtures at home in the Premier League this season.

Sheffield United, on the other hand, are unbeaten on the road in the Premier League.

The Blades have won one game and drawn four times on their travels.
