Tottenham youngster Harry Kane eyes more starts and more goals
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane wants to start more games and score more goals next season
Harry Kane has vowed to score more goals next season as the Tottenham Hotspur striker gears up for life under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The England Under-21 international was handed a series of first-team opportunities under former head coach Tim Sherwood in the second half of the season.
I know that will take a lot of hard work and I’ll need to have a good pre-season but the target is to get more starts and more goals
Kane, 21, scored four goals in 19 appearances in all competitions, with the Spurs youngster starting eight games for the north London club over the course of the campaign.
Tottenham handed Argentine Pochettino a five-year deal earlier this week, and Kane is hoping to build on his performances towards the end of the 2013/14 term.
“I picked up a back injury midway through the season and had to be patient, but when the chance comes you have to take it,” Kane told Tottenham’s website.
“That chance came towards the end of the season and to score three goals in my first three starts for Spurs in the Premier League was fantastic, a very proud time for me.
“As that chance came at the end of the season, hopefully I’ll take that confidence into next season.
