Tottenham’s Andre Villas-Boas hails clinical Roberto Soldado
Andre Villas-Boas heaps praise on Roberto Soldado after the Spanish striker's clinical effort in a 2-0 win at Aston Villa
Andre Villas-Boas expressed his delight at seeing Roberto Soldado back to his clinical best after a 2-0 win at Aston Villa.
England star Andros Townsend opened the scoring in the 31st minute with a fortuitous long-range strike before Soldado sealed the victory with 21 minutes remaining.
It was the Spain international’s first Premier League goal from open play following a £26.5m move from Valencia in the summer, and Villas-Boas praised the striker after the game.
“It was a great performance. He was making the most out of his opportunities and this is the reason why we bought him,” said Villas-Boas.
Villas-Boas also hailed Townsend after the midfielder capped a brilliant couple of weeks with his first top-flight goal for Spurs.
“I think he’s done what he has been doing excellently,” added Villas-Boas.
“He takes the team forward, and he has the ability to drive and jump the man whenever he has the ball.
“He is always a threat and teams have started to be more aware of his strengths. He started not really well, but improved during the game.”
