Tottenham’s Andros Townsend targets World Cup spot
Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend says he wants to continue his club form to help secure a World Cup spot

Andros Townsend has vowed to knuckle down and continue his impressive Tottenham Hotspur form to boost his chances of travelling with England to Brazil.
The 22-year-old has repaid the faith of Three Lions manager Roy Hodgson after producing starring performances in wins against Poland and Montenegro in their crunch Group H qualifiers.
Townsend has been in sparkling form for Spurs, too, and the former Queens Park Rangers midfielder wants to continue his run in the Spurs team to help secure a spot in England’s World Cup squad.
“For me, I have got to put that to the back of my mind now,” Townsend told Sky Sports News.
“I have got a difficult enough job trying to keep my place in the Tottenham team. We have got some fantastic players all vying for one position, so I have got to play well in every game and hopefully the rewards will come at the end of the season.”
Townsend also feels England have the right blend of experience and youth after a 2-0 win against Poland sealed their place in next summer’s tournament.
“We know we have got some world class players, experienced players – like Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard – but we have also got the youth coming through in (Danny) Welbeck, (Daniel) Sturridge and Jack Wilshere.
“So there is a nice mix of experienced players and the youngsters – the future is bright for us.”
