Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend tips Spurs to challenge for the Premier League title this season
Andros Townsend has tipped Tottenham Hotspur to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
The 22-year-old winger has been instrumental to the north London side’s recent run of good results after scoring his first Spurs goal in a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa.
The England international believes Tottenham, who face Newcastle United this weekend, can capitalise on the change of management at Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United and challenge for the top-flight crown.
“Is it realistic to aim for the title? I can’t see why not,” Townsend told the London Evening Standard. “We’re in touching distance of the top and we’re still fighting for that top space.
“Four of the top six changed manager in the summer but we’ve kept continuity and that gives us a massive chance this year.”
Earlier this week, Tottenham youngster Kane amditted he is hoping to emulate Townsend’s meteoric rise at White Hart Lane.
“It’s all about taking your chance. Andros has taken his chance this year, he’s been excellent. It’s great to see because you feel like you’ve got a chance yourself,” Kane said.
