Unai Emery drops hint about Alexandre Lacazette ahead of Sheffield United v Arsenal
Unai Emery says he will make a late decision about whether to play Alexandre Lacazette for Arsenal's trip to Sheffield United
Unai Emery has revealed that he will make a late decision about whether to start Alexandre Lacazette for Arsenal’s trip to Sheffield United on Monday night.
The striker has been out of action for the last few weeks after having suffered an injury during the 2-2 draw with Tottenham back at the start of September.
Lacazette is now nearing a return to first team action for the Gunners and he has been working hard behind the scenes at the club’s London Colney training ground.
The France international will be hopeful of being involved when Arsenal take on Sheffield United in the Premier League at Bramall Lane on Monday night.
And Emery has hinted that Lacazette could be involved when the Gunners make the trip to take on the Blades next week.
Asked to update fans about Lacazette’s injury situation, Emery told a news conference on Friday morning: “Today is the first day he is training with us. He finished it well and he is feeling well.
“Tomorrow, again, he is going to train with us and we are going to decide.
“But the most important thing is for him to be with us, available, first to start training and second if we need him.
“It depends on how he feels over the next days training with us and his ankle is not giving him any more problems.
“But it is really positive for us that he has started training with us and to be another possibility for Monday.
“I do not know if he will be ready to play 90 minutes or the bench but we are going to decide in the next days.
“But it is really important that he has started to train with us.”
Lacazette has scored two goals in three Premier League games for the Gunners so far this season.
The north London side head into this weekend’s round of games in the Premier League in third place in the Premier League table.
