Video: Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard shows off his heading ability with Chesterfield midfielder Jimmy Ryan
He may be a Liverpool legend, but Steven Gerrard still feels the need to practise his heading after an impromptu training session.
The 34-year-old Reds captain should line up against Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday evening as Brendan Rodgers’s side look to secure their third Premier League victory of the season.
And Gerrard took to his Instagram page to post a video of the former England skipper enjoying a header session with ex-Liverpool youth player and current Chesterfield midfielder Jimmy Ryan.
“Could be here all day @bavo25,” Gerrard said.
Earlier on Wednesday, Liverpool defender Javier Manquillo admitted that it was a dream come true to play alongside the talismanic captain.
“The first time I watched Gerrard play, I was only a child,” said Manquillo. “Now I play in the same team with him, he’s a truly great player and it’s a dream come true to share the field with him.
“I’m very happy to stay here. There’s some things I miss about home – the weather is the main one! – but I’m getting accustomed to things here more and more every day.”
