Paul Merson is backing Tottenham Hotspur to end their winless run with a 3-1 victory at Watford in their London derby on Saturday afternoon.

Spurs have struggled to find their form under Mauricio Pochettino since a comprehensive 2-0 loss to Arsenal in the north London derby at the Emirates Stadium.

Tottenham failed to make a swift return to winning ways following a 1-1 draw with Premier League strugglers West Brom at Wembley to lose further ground in the title race.

The Lilywhites lost 2-1 to 2015 Premier League champions Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night despite Harry Kane’s best efforts to rescue a point.

Tottenham dropped to seventh place in the Premier League table and fell behind Burnley to leave Spurs contemplating a top-four challenge rather than a title bid.

Spurs have lost three of their last five games following a 1-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford in October to trigger their dip in form.

However, former Arsenal midfielder Merson is backing Tottenham to return to winning ways with a comfortable win against Marco Silva’s Watford side at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.

“Watford disappointed me in midweek,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“They play the big boys and they get whipped up – I think Tottenham will get the job done but they look like they’ve lost a bit of focus.”

Tottenham finished in second place in the Premier League table last term after challenging Chelsea throughout the campaign.
