Wayne Rooney: Give Chelsea boss André Villas-Boas more time
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has warned Blues owner Roman Abramovich not to wield his axe just yet

Wayne Rooney has backed under-fire Chelsea mananger André Villas-Boas, insisting Blues’ owner Roman Abramovich must give his new boss time.
Chelsea have slumped to three defeats in their last five games to heap pressure on the 34-year-old Portuguese manager.
But Manchester United striker Rooney thinks Abramovich should persevere with the young coach.
“There’s a lot of people saying he should be sacked, that Chelsea should make another change,” Rooney told the Sun. “There’s no need to do that, I cannot see the point in that at all.”
Chelsea have struggled at Stamford Bridge this season, losing to Arsenal and Liverpool in successive games to leave them with the third worst defensive home record in league behind Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic.
And Rooney expressed his surprise at the west Londoners’ uncharacteristic defensive woes.
“I must admit I’ve been surprised by Chelsea’s problems because in the last few years they’ve always been so solid, so hard to score against and so very difficult to beat.
“This season that hasn’t been the case but they’ve a new manager and a new way of playing which will take time to settle. For me the best option is to keep faith and keep your manager.”
