Wayne Rooney should be available for selection for Manchester United’s derby clash with Manchester City on Monday night.
The 27-year-old Manchester United striker sat out the 1-0 FA Cup quarter-final defeat by Chelsea on Monday with a groin problem.
But United boss Sir Alex Ferguson expects to have Rooney and Rafael, who also missed the cup clash, available for the visit of Roberto Mancini’s men.
“Wayne and Rafael have started training this morning, which is good news,” said Ferguson. “Hopefully, they will be fine by Monday.
“Jonny Evans and Nemanja Vidic are not there yet but, hopefully, they will start training maybe tomorrow or Saturday morning.
“We have a little bit of time on our hands to get most of the troops ready for the game.”
Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has urged Rooney to sign for Paris Saint-Germain if he decides it is time to quit Old Trafford.
He said: “If he wants to be part of the best project in football, then there is only one club to sign for.
“Only he knows the decision he is going to make in the summer, but the project we are trying to build here is clear.”
