Wayne Rooney insists that the players must take responsibility for Manchester United's stuttering form
Wayne Rooney insists that the players must take responsibility for Manchester United’s stuttering performances this season.
United have struggled to find consistent form under new manager David Moyes this season, with the Red Devils currently 15 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea.
We know we’re better than that and we haven’t performed as well as we can do
Moyes’ side have the chance to put their poor domestic form behind them when they travel to Olympiacos in the Champions League last-16 first leg on Tuesday.
And Rooney believes that it is up to the players to improve their performances in the remainder of the season.
“As a group of players we have to take responsibility for our league position. We know we’re better than that and we haven’t performed as well as we can do,” Rooney said.
“We know that and it hurts. Now it’s important we finish the season strongly and take some momentum into next year, but more importantly get into fourth spot and do well in the Champions League.”
