Wenger gives latest Arsenal injury update ahead of West Brom clash
Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remain sidelined for Arsenal's clash with West Bromwich
Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remain sidelined ahead of Arsenal’s clash with West Brom on Sunday, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.
Wilshere has been out of action since March with a hairline fracture in his foot, while Oxlade-Chamberlain has been missing with a groin strain.
At the moment, the same group of players [as the Newcastle game] should be available
“They are not ready yet,” Wenger told Arsenal’s website.
“Alex is in treatment at the moment and not in training. It’s very difficult to give you a time-scale on him at the moment.”
Wenger added that defender Kieran Gibbs remains out of action due to a hamstring problem.
“Gibbs will be a bit short for Sunday,” he continued. “The good news is that he’s back in fitness training but he is not back in the full training group yet.
“At the moment, the same group of players [as the Newcastle game] should be available for Sunday.
“It’s our last home game and you want everybody available and finish with a win.”
Arsenal can guarantee qualification for next season’s Champions League with victory over the Baggies at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
