Tim Sherwood insisted that he is still loving the Tottenham job after Christian Eriksen’s late strike rescued a point for Spurs at West Bromwich Albion.

The Baggies appeared to be cruising to three points after Matej Vydra and Chris Brunt put the home side in control within five minutes at The Hawthorns.

Emmanuel Adebayor missed a penalty before Stephane Sessegnon handed West Brom a 3-0 half-time lead as Spurs struggled defensively.

However, Sherwood’s men fought back as Jonas Olsson’s own goal and Harry Kane’s header left Spurs needing one more strike to level, with Eriksen producing an equaliser in injury time.

“It was crazy. We might as well put 1-0 up on scoreboard before we start. At 3-0 I thought we were going to win the game. We totally dominated this football match,” Sherwood told BBC Sport.

“We were disappointed with their third goal, we thought it was a foul, I’m trying to think of as many excuses for our defending, which was horrendous. I thought our supporters got us back in the game.

“They never left us, they are knowledgeable and knew we were battering West Brom. They never had a shot on goal in the second half Hugo [Lloris] was getting frostbite out there.”

He added: “Perversely I am loving it. I like the stick. am proud to be the manager of this great football club and long may it continue. The fans know I am with them, all I want is the best for this football club.”

Meanwhile, Pepe Mel, whose side remain four points above the relegation zone, admitted it was very difficult for his side to accept a draw.

“We did start very well, we had a good first half but the result has gone against us,” Mel said.

“The problem is we are so keen to win the points, we need to play the same way regardless of being 3-0 up or if 0-0. This is very difficult for me, the players are very down but we have five games to come. Every point is very important.”
