West Ham 1 QPR 1: Redknapp calls on Hoops to continue unbeaten run

Harry Redknapp urged Queens Park Rangers to continue their unbeaten run after the Hoops held on for a point at West Ham.

France international Loic Remy scored on his debut, with the 26-year-old clinically finishing past Jussi Jaaskelainen following good work by Adel Taarabt.

West Ham striker Marouane Chamakh, on loan from Arsenal, missed a gluttony of chances before Joe Cole scored his first goal for the Hammers since his return to Upton Park.

QPR shot-stopper Júlio Cesar had to be at his best to prevent West Ham from netting a winner, with Cole’s late effort cleared off the line by QPR defender Fabio.

It means Redknapp’s side are now unbeaten in four games – including a victory at Chelsea – and the Hoops boss hopes that with some timely additions, the west London outfit can move clear of the relegation zone.

“The players have been excellent we have been on a good little run,” Redknapp, whose side are still bottom of the table on 15 points, told BBC Sport.

“We just want to keep that going and keep improving. We have still got irons in the fire and we have still got a chance.

“We do need make a couple of signings and let one or two lads who are in the squad go. We saw how important that was today, we couldn’t have scored that goal a few weeks ago.

“If we had held on to win today, Loic Remy would have paid off a big chunk of his fee.”

He added: “There are one or two players we are talking to. Long-term we need a centre half, but I am looking to improve other areas.

“We are still there [bottom of the table] but we are in much better shape that we were six or seven weeks ago. There will be teams looking over their shoulder.”
