West Ham 2 Norwich City 0: Allardyce thrilled by third straight win
West Ham 2 Norwich City 0: Sam Allardyce reveals his delight after watching his side move up to 10th
Sam Allardyce could not hide his delight after watching his West Ham United side beat Norwich City and climb up to 10th place in the Premier League.
After a goalless first half, James Collins headed home Mohamed Diame’s cross from the cross in the 84th minute in east London.
It’s a great end to an important run of fixtures
And Diame wrapped up the Hammers’ third straight top-flight win in the 94th minute with a late goal on the break.
“I’m delighted, it was a hell of a game Norwich gave us tonight,” said Allardyce. “I had the chairman ringing me up to say we had not won under lights this season or last and that was in my mind.
“Our goalkeeper kept us in the game and we scored late, when it is hard for anybody to come back into it.
“It’s a great end to an important run of fixtures. If Norwich continue like that, they will have no problems. They were very good and gave us a good game.”
Meanwhile, Norwich boss Chris Hughton was left to rue the Hammers’ late goals at Upton Park after a solid all-round display.
“We only have ourselves to blame,” said Hughton. “You’ve got to be able to capitalise on your chances, especially away from home. We did everything perfectly up until their first goal but then we made an error.
“Their goalkeeper had a good day but we managed to get into so many good positions and you have to put one of them away.”
