Top seed Caroline Wozniacki moved into the fourth round at Wimbledon with a straight sets victory over 27th seed Jarmila Gajdosova.

The world No1 eased past her Australian opponent in just 62 minutes, winning 6-3 6-2. Wozniacki made just five unforced errors in a solid performance and the Dane will next face No24 seed Dominika Cibulková for a place in the last eight.

“Today I served well in the important points and I got a lot of returns back. She was very aggressive. I knew she was going to be,” said Wozniacki. “I was really happy when I got that break in the first set. I knew I just needed to keep my serve.”

She added: “Even though I broke her early in the second set again, I was facing break points in the game after.”

Gajdosova believes her opponent seed is in with a great chance of claiming her first Grand Slam title at SW19.

“She’s playing pretty well,” said Gajdosova. “I’m sure she has a pretty big chance.”

Wozniacki beat Cibulková in straight sets in the third round of the Australian Open earlier this year, and the 20-year-old top seed believes consistent serving will be key against the Slovakian.

“We grew up playing against each other in the juniors,” Wozniacki said. “So we know each other pretty well. She’s a pretty short player. But taking the ball early, trying to be aggressive, returning well.

“It’s going to be a game where I need to keep my serve up. I need to get a lot of balls back and try to take the initiative and make her run.”
