Wimbledon 2015: Heather Watson relishing SW19 spotlight

Heather Watson insists that she loves playing at her "home" Grand Slam tournament at Wimbledon

Heather Watson insists that she relishes playing at Wimbledon, despite the increased pressure of being a British player at the tournament.

Watson heads to the All England Club as the British No1 and is sure to find herself at the centre of the media spotlight in the coming days.

However, the 23-year-old from Guernsey says that she enjoys “everything” about competing at SW19 and can’t wait to get her campaign under way.

“I really do enjoy coming to Wimbledon. I enjoy everything that comes with it,” said Watson.

“It doesn’t seem like a job at a tournament like this. It seems really fun and exciting, a privilege to play. I love every aspect of it.”

She continued: “I enjoy playing at all the Grand Slams. I love different parts of each one. But this one, it’s home. I don’t think anything really beats home.

“Everybody speaks English. Just having all my friends and family able to just come and watch me play and support me, and the home crowd support…”

Watson begins her Wimbledon campaign against 32nd seed Caroline Garcia.
