Wojciech Szczesny tips Arsene Wenger to stay at Arsenal for ‘a long time’
Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny doesn't believe Arsene Wenger's future at the club should be questioned
Wojciech Szczesny is confident Arsene Wenger will remain at Arsenal for “a long time”.
The 64-year-old Gunners manager is yet to sign a new Arsenal deal, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the current season.
We believe in him, he believes in us and I’m sure he’ll work for a long time
Wenger has been criticised in recent weeks after Arsenal’s Premier League title challenge faded away thanks to a three-game winless run, including a 6-0 loss at Chelsea.
However, Arsenal goalkeeper Szczesny is under no illusion that Wenger is the right man for the north London club and is backing the Frenchman to extend his stay.
“I don’t have any doubts about his future,” Szczesny said.
“The boss has been around for so long, had so much experience, I’m sure he’s been through times much worse.
“We believe in him, he believes in us and I’m sure he’ll work for a long time.”
Last month, Szczesny declared that he would be happy to spend his entire career at the Gunners.
“If they give me a contract to the end of my career, I’d sign it without any hesitation,” Szczesny told Przeglad Sportowy. “I feel attached to the club and the coach who has given me a chance.
“There are not many who would do that but I must have been good. I see the future here. I’ll play at Arsenal as long as am wanted here. I am not afraid to fight for number one with anyone: Lukasz Fabianski or Iker Casillas.
“I hope I won’t make the boss think, ‘Wojciech’s not number one’. It’s all in my hands. I am in the best form of my life.”
