Gary Lineker reacts to Paul Pogba’s penalty miss in Man United’s 1-1 draw at Wolves
Gary Lineker questions why Marcus Rashford didn't take Manchester United's second-half penalty at Wolves on Monday night

Gary Lineker took to Twitter to question why Marcus Rashford didn’t take Manchester United’s missed second-half penalty after the Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw at Wolves on Monday night.
Paul Pogba wasted the opportunity to secure three points for the visitors when the France midfielder’s penalty was saved by Wolverhampton Wanderers shot stopper Rui Patricio in the 68th minute.
Manchester United were looking to keep pace with their top-four rivals Arsenal and Liverpool FC at the top of the table, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men had the chance to move two points ahead of derby rivals Manchester City.
The visitors broke the deadlock in the 27th minute when Marcus Rashford teed up Anthony Martial to score his 50th goal for the club.
Wolves were level midway through the second half when Ruben Neves netted a superb goal to threaten an upset against the 20-time English champions.
Paul Pogba had the chance to restore Manchester United’s lead when his surging run was brought to a halt by Wolves defender Conor Coady.
However, the World Cup winner’s spot-kick was saved by Wolves goalkeeper Patricio to protect their unbeaten record against Manchester United since their promotion to the Premier League in 2018.
Former Spurs striker Lineker questioned why Rashford didn’t take the penalty after the Englishman dispatched his effort against Chelsea FC last weekend.
Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Inexplicable that Pogba should take the penalty after Rashford took one and scored last week. As a striker that would absolutely do my head in. Particularly if they miss.”
Manchester United were 4-0 winners against bitter rivals Chelsea FC in their Premier League opener at Old Trafford earlier this month.
The Red Devils will take on Crystal Palace in their next Premier League fixture at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
