World U20s 2015: Scotland ring changes again for Argentina test

Sean Lineen has made eight changes for the second successive match for Scotland’s match with Argentina at the World Rugby U20 Championship in northern Italy on Wednesday afternoon.

Both countries are yet to win in their opening two Pool C matches with Scotland bottom of the table after failing to fully fire in their crushing defeat to New Zealand and error-strewn performance in their loss against Ireland.

Edinburgh back-row forward Magnus Bradbury captains the side from number eight with Watsonian’s Ally Miller and Stirling County’s Lewis Wynne coming in at blindside and openside flanker, respectively.

Melrose’s Neil Irvine-Hess moves from blindside flanker to replace club team-mate Lewis Carmichael as Scott Cummings’ partner in the engine room.

In the backs, Hartpury College’s Ben Vellacott returns at scrum-half with Northampton Saints’ outside-half Rory Hutchinson also returning to the starting XV.

Edinburgh’s Blair Kinghorn, who started at 10 against Ireland, switches to full-back in place of Ruairi Howarth.

London Scottish’s versatile back Alec Coombes switches from the left wing to outside centre to partner Patrick Kelly in the midfield with the University of Birmingham’s Richard Galloway taking Coombes’ place.

“We know what we face in our final game of the group stages, and that is a gruelling test against a tough and physical Argentina side,” Lineen said.

“Our high-error count against Ireland was frustrating so we’ve been working hard to cut that out of our game.

“However, there were a lot of positives we can take from that match which, hopefully, we can carry into tomorrow’s tie.

“We have rotated the squad a fair bit for this match, but we need to ensure that across the five games players are getting adequate rest, as well as a chance to play and prove themselves at this level.”
