Hector was sent out on loan to Championship side Watford in order to gain more first-team experience. The defender made eight appearances for the Hornets.

Arsenal recalled Bellerin from his loan spell in February 2013 to reunite with the Gunners first-team squad.

Bellerin found his pathway to the Arsenal team cleared following injuries to Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers and Nacho Monreal.

However, he came third in the voting for Arsenal’s player of the season.

Hector’s impressive performances earned the full-back interest from La Liga giants FC Barcelona in the 2016 summer transfer window.

Bellerin’s only goal of the Premier League campaign came in a 3-1 win against Everton at The Emirates on 21 May.
