Carl Froch has heaped praise on Jake Paul for ‘playing’ Eddie Hearn after he announced the Gervonta Davis fight after the Anthony Joshua clash collapsed.
November is set to be a stacked month in boxing with Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn’s rematch, an insane Ring IV card, and Paul facing ‘Tank’ Davis in an exhibition contest.
The announcement of the exhibition is not for fans of the sweet science, as some boxers have labelled it ‘farcical’, but once again, ‘El Gallo’ has caught the attention of the wider public with this Netflix bout and grabbed his sought-after headlines.

Before this bout, though, he was looking to pencil in a ‘dangerous’ fight with two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, which certainly drew as many critics as the Davis fight.
Carl Froch praises Jake Paul for ‘playing’ Eddie Hearn following Gervonta Davis fight announcement
Eddie Hearn, for weeks, had told outlets that ‘mismatch’ discussions had taken place and had even placed the 28-year-old influencer as the frontrunner for Joshua.
However, with the announcement of the November 14th exhibition tearing up social media, Hearn’s immediate reaction was one of disinterest and deflection, claiming Joshua and the team ‘never really wanted’ the bout.
Since the confirmation of the crossover clash between two fighters with a 65 lb weight difference between them, Froch has had his say on the way ‘The Problem Child’ has handled the head of Matchroom.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, he was full of praise for the Ohio boxer.
He said: “So, he’s played an absolute f- – -ing bl- – – – -. He got Eddie Hearn hook, line, and sinker. Casting out. Wheel him in. I got you.
“Eddie Hearn took the bait. Gave him his free publicity. Said this fight is 99% done. AJ will be fighting Jake Paul. He’s thinking to himself, ‘This is going to be big money, and AJ’s right at the end of his career. Let’s cash out’.
“But it didn’t happen, did it? Jake Paul just f- – -ing ripped the a- – out of Eddie Hearn.”
The Watford fighter was up for taking on the youngest Paul brother, but now he is focused on his return, which, according to rumours, will likely be the beginning of 2026.
He also went on to refer to the WBA lightweight champion as being the size of one of ‘AJ’s legs’.
Carl Froch gives his prediction for the Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis fight, ‘He’s in clown world’
Froch was very critical of the fight; given his time as one of the great British super middleweight fighters, he does not necessarily want to entertain the contest.
But he did make his pick for who is the favourite to win the fight as he blasts the influencer-turned-novice boxer’s ability.
He said: “I don’t know where else I can go with it. It’s potentially dangerous. Who’s the favorite to win the fight? I’d say that Gervonta Davis is the favorite because Jake Paul can’t fight.
“He’s a clown in the clown world, and he lures people in because he’s got the demographic and the audience, so people get paid, and that’s the only reason why this fight for me has got any kind of interest and any kind of momentum is because it’s backed by a lot of money.”
Davis is taking this fight in the late prime years of his career, and it could signal that he may not be long for the sport if he is taking a big-money fight with Paul.
