Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez or Terence Crawford will have a long line of opponents waiting for their opportunity, and Chris Eubank Jr has added his name to the list.

The 13 September super fight between Canelo and Crawford is the biggest boxing event of the year, with the undisputed super middleweight titles hanging in the balance for both men.

There has been much debate over who wins the bout and how, with experts weighing up the two-weight jump in weight classes for ‘Bud’ against the recent slower performances of Alvarez.

Whoever wins the bout will be mandated to compete against the IBF mandatory challenger, Osleys Iglesias, who scored a dominant stoppage victory over former Alvarez opponent Vladimir Shishkin.

However, Eubank Jr has now made his intentions to fight the victor of the clash known during a recent interview.

The British fighter has his own big fight to deal with first in November as he rematches Conor Benn following their enthralling April bout.

Eubank won their first encounter by unanimous decision after a back-and-forth contest, which saw both men rocked multiple times but managing to stay on their feet to finish the fight.

Already, the 35-year-old has targeted his next rival in the winner of the Canelo v Crawford fight in an interview with Sky Sports.

He said: “It’s a big fight and it’s a fight that I’m looking at closely because after I dispatch Conor Benn for the second time either one of those two men, Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, I would love to share the ring with in 2026.

“I’m here to fight the big names. I want the biggest fights. I want the fights that the fans want to see and Canelo Alvarez is the name in the sport right now. If Crawford wins he’s the name in the sport and I would want to take him on so I’ll be watching closely.”

This is not the first time Chris has called out the modern Mexican great. Most recently, following Canelo’s victory against Jermell Charlo, the star made his intentions to fight him known.

A matchup with Crawford, though, would be interesting for an entirely different reason.

Before Eubank Jr fought Liam Smith in their heated domestic rematch, ‘Next Gen’ employed a new trainer in Brian ‘Bomac’ McIntyre, who is the head trainer of the American star.

He was successful in getting the stoppage victory over Smith, but it would be the only time ‘Bomac’ was installed as his coach for a contest.

The pair parted ways before the first fight with Benn, with Eubank now training with Johnathan Banks.

Training in the gym and being around his camp could have given him some good insider knowledge of how the pound-for-pound great prepares for fights and may even reveal some weaknesses.
