George Kambosos Jr. has reacted to his devastating defeat against Richardson Hitchins.
Last night, the Australian challenged his American adversary for the IBF super lightweight title at the Theatre in Madison Square Garden, New York, USA.
Alas, despite a spirited effort, Kambosos Jr. fell short of his dream of becoming a two-weight world champion.
In round eight, his rival detonated a thunderous body shot that sent him tumbling towards the canvas. Despite rising to his feet, the referee called a halt to the action.

In his esteemed career, George Kambosos Jr. has made many incredible memories, from travelling to the UK to defeat Lee Selby and, of course, pulling off a legendary upset against Teofimo Lopez for the undisputed world titles.
However, yesterday evening, it was his opponent who emerged victorious, and showcasing his class, the Aussie was quick to head to social media to give him his credit.
He tweeted: “It’s a tough game, but one game that I have always loved no matter what. I look at myself in the mirror, and I know that I always believed in myself, took on the absolute best, and always chased greatness—a great trophy cabinet.
“So much love and support from the fans worldwide and a loving family. Win, lose or draw, I always stepped up, that’s all people can ask from in a fighter.
“Congrats @HeIsRichardson, it was your night, well deserved, respect and God bless your future career. Thanks to all the boxing fans for all the love and support. Just a warrior from Sydney that chased it all. God bless.”

After claiming an excellent win over Kambosos Jr., Richardson Hitchins was quick to set his sights on his next target.
The boxing star utilized his post-fight interview to call for an all-American showdown with ‘The Dream’.
However, while a match-up with Devin Haney would likely do big business, it isn’t the only option on the table.
Teofimo Lopez entered the ring in the aftermath, opening the door for a potential showdown between the pair.
