Phumelele Cafu vows to create boxing upset
Cafu is probably the only person who doesn’t deem himself to be the underdog in this fight in Frisco this weekend.
The South African world champion has suffered three defeats in his 14 professional fights whereas ‘Bam’ remains undefeated and one day tipped to fight fellow pound-for-pound star Naoya Inoue.
But, Cafu won’t let that happen and wants to prove the doubters wrong by defeating the American in his home state.
He told Sports Illustrated: “When I face Bam, I want to face him at his best. Cause when I beat him, I want to know that I beat Bam in his prime. I don’t want it to feel like an off day.
“I still have a lot to prove. I believe I do have what it takes to be one of the greatest boxers in South Africa. So, I’m heading there.”
