Roy Jones Jr knows what he’s talking about when it comes to boxing, but especially the heavyweights.

Just like Oleksandr Usyk, Jones has found himself a WBA world champion in the biggest weight class in the sport even though he began his career as a middleweight.

Usyk proved his credentials in the weight class against Tyson Fury but has garnered praise for his five-round demolition of Daniel Dubois.

With Dubois out of the picture and the Ukrainian nearing his final fight, the question of who the final man to face him is wide open.

Roy Jones Jr chooses Joseph Parker as the ‘best chance’ of beating Oleksandr Usyk

Names such as Fury and Anthony Joshua have been thrown around for trilogies, but Jones Jr believes there is one boxer with the ‘best chance’.

Speaking to IFL TV, he said: “I’m going to keep it real, there’s just a couple guys that have a chance, but of the guys we know, the guy with the best chance to be honest with you, people may disagree, but I know what I’m looking at, the guy with the best chance is Joseph Parker.”

The former unified light heavyweight champion picked out exactly why he feels the New Zealander has to have his shot.

“Joseph Parker is the guy who can bring enough intangibles to the game and you got to remember Joseph Parker is not a big heavyweight,” he explained.

“Usyk fares better with these big guys than he would with a smaller guy because someone who is smaller can get on his speed level, be a bit more difficult for him.”

Although he wouldn’t go as far as to predict a Parker win, he believes there is enough for him to ask questions of ‘The Great’.

Roy Jones Jr never backed Daniel Dubois because Oleksandr Usyk stopped him with a jab

The fallout from the Wembley fight has been focused on the pre-fight ‘party’ of ‘Dynamite’, with Johnny Nelson labelling Dubois’ father as ‘reckless’.

But on the actual fight itself, the American boxing legend knew ‘DDD’ wouldn’t be able to pull off an upset no matter what.

Jones explained: “I told people before the fight, if I stop you with a jab, you’re never going to beat me.

“The first time Usyk beat him with a jab, it is very hard for you to make me believe no matter what he went through, that he’s going to come back and beat Usyk if Usyk beats you with a jab.

“If you lose the race, you got to bring something new. He didn’t bring anything new so how do you expect to win?”

Don Charles revealed he and the team will be facing an internal inquest by Queensbury Promotions into what happened surrounding the fight.
