The countdown for Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is almost over as the American internet star prepares for his biggest test yet.

Paul wants to become a boxing world champion and has climbed up the ladder, claiming a win against Mike Tyson in his last outing.

Cesar Chavez Jr has been less active in the ring but the Mexican is still being regarded as Paul’s toughest opponent so far.

Despite this, there have still been a wide range of predictions as to how this contest could go but even by his own admission, Tony Bellew is surprised by what he thinks will happen.

Tony Bellew predicts Jake Paul will ‘beat up’ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr

Tony Bellew has been in high-pressure boxing scenarios throughout his career and knows how much is on the line for both fighters’ careers.

A win for Paul would elevate his status even further while defeat for Chavez Jr would only damage the three-time champion’s legacy even more.

Despite the latter’s previous experience, Bellew is predicting a comfortable victory for Paul, which he “can’t believe” he is admitting.

Writing on X, he said: “I can’t believe I’m writing this but I am! He’s going to beat Chavez up.. Chavez in his pomp was a very good fighter with some very good wins on his resume tbh.. He no longer loves or lives the game and that’s why he’s lost to the likes of Anderson Silva! I think Jake wins on points. Stoppage would be impressive imo.”

Tony Bellew warns Chavez Jr will ’embarrass’ boxers if he loses to Jake Paul

Paul is in a win-win scenario when he fights Chavez Jr on June 28.

If he wins, he can claim he beat a three-time champion and gain more respect from other active fighters whereas if he loses, he can point to the fact that his 39-year-old opponent enjoyed a mostly successful career.

However, Bellew has warned Chavez Jr that defeat would destroy his legacy.

Replying to a fan, he said: “It’s all on Chavez! He’s embarrassing real fighters if he loses. He carries an absolute icon’s name! He needs to take better care of it and only fight when he’s willing to take it seriously.”
