Formula One’s summer break is fast approaching as everyone heads to Hungary for the next big Grand Prix weekend.
It’s still competitive at the top, but Oscar Piastri has now opened a 16-point lead over his McLaren teammate Lando Norris after an impressive drive at the Belgian Grand Prix.
| Position | Drivers' Championship | Points |
| 1 | Oscar Piastri | 266 |
| 2 | Lando Norris | 250 |
| 3 | Max Verstappen | 185 |
| 4 | George Russell | 157 |
| 5 | Charles Leclerc | 139 |
| 6 | Lewis Hamilton | 109 |
The two Papaya cars will be battling it out for momentum heading into the break, but could face stern competition.
Ferrari’s upgrade package worked as intended last time out, while Max Verstappen showed there is still some pace to be had in the Red Bull.
Mercedes will be looking to get back among those at the top, after a difficult race or two.
So, with that said, here’s a look at everything you need to know ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The previous five winners of the Hungarian Grand Prix
The Hungarian Grand Prix has had a recent knack for developing new race winners at the track, having done so in the past few years.
While there have been wins for the likes of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in that time period, there were also maiden wins for Oscar Piastri and Esteban Ocon around the circuit.
| Year | Winner |
|---|---|
| 2024 | Oscar Piastri |
| 2023 | Max Verstappen |
| 2022 | Max Verstappen |
| 2021 | Esteban Ocon |
| 2020 | Lewis Hamilton |
It remains to be seen whether there can be another maiden victory this time around or if one of the more experienced winners is back on top of the podium.

What is the Hungarian F1 Grand Prix trophy design?
In recent years, the Hungarian Grand Prix winner has been handed a porcelain trophy designed by Herend Porcelain.
These designs are unique but also very fragile, as was seen when Lando Norris accidentally broke Max Verstappen’s trophy in 2023, which was eventually remade.
F1 drivers’ and constructors’ championship standings
Heading into the weekend, the championships are starting to heat up as everyone falls into place on the grid.
In terms of the drivers’ championship, it appears to be Piastri and Norris fighting it out for top spot, unless a dramatic turnaround can occur.
Verstappen is guaranteed to be in third for the summer break, with the likes of Russell, Leclerc and Hamilton just behind.
The battle for points in the midfield is also coming along, as each star looks to finish as high as possible.
