Oscar Piastri has enjoyed a brilliant start to the 2025 Formula 1 season.

The McLaren driver currently sits top of the Drivers’ Standings, three points ahead of teammate Lando Norris, after winning four of the opening eight races.

It is this sort of consistency that is required to win a World Championship, with another record from this season also demonstrating that the Australian is in good standing as he tries to achieve that feat.

Oscar Piastri has finished on the podium in his last seven races

As well as the four race wins, Piastri has finished on the rostrum in his last seven Formula 1 races.

Ironically, the only race in which the 24-year-old failed to achieve that feat so far this season was his home Grand Prix in Melbourne.

Since then, Piastri has claimed three third-placed finishes alongside the aforementioned four wins.

The new front-wing regulations could nonetheless scupper this streak, with McLaren predicted to suffer more by comparison to other teams.

Such has been the Woking-based outfit’s pace this season, however, Piastri will likely still fancy his chances of extending his remarkable run.

Lewis Hamilton, Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost are the other three McLaren drivers to achieve that feat

In finishing on the podium for McLaren in seven consecutive races, Piastri is in good company.

The only other three drivers to achieve this feat for the team are Formula 1 legends Lewis Hamilton, Ayrton Senna, and Alain Prost.

Incredibly, Hamilton achieved that record in his rookie season, claiming two wins, four second-placed finishes, and three third-placed finishes in his first nine races during the 2007 season.

Ayrton Senna, meanwhile, won his first World Championship in 1988 thanks to his run of six wins and two second-placed finishes across eight consecutive races.

Lastly, Alain Prost achieved that record twice in two different seasons:

The records of those three legends puts Piastri’s achievement in perspective, especially when you consider other McLaren drivers (such as Jenson Button and Norris) who have failed to do the same.
