Arsene Wenger has said that he is confident that Aaron Ramsey will sign a new contract with Arsenal.

The midfielder has been in good form for the Gunners this season and was the star of the show as he scored two goals in the north London side’s 4-1 win over CSKA Moscow in the Europa League last week.

Ramsey has been an ever-present fixture in the heart of Arsenal’s midfield in recent seasons and he has earned praise for his consistent work-rate for the Gunners.

The Wales international’s current contract is set to expire at the end of next season and the Gunners will be keen to try and get the midfielder to pen an extension at The Emirates.

Now, Wenger has revealed that Arsenal have opened talks with the midfielder about the possibility of a new contract and he is hopeful that he will commit his future to the club.

Speaking at his post-match news conference at The Emirates after the CSKA Moscow game last week, Wenger said: “We are communicating.

“I’m confident. He is not at the end of his contract. He has one-and-a-half years to go.”

Arsenal will travel to Russia for the return leg of their quarter-final Europa League clash on Thursday night.

The Gunners are aiming to try and win the Europa League this season as they look to book a spot in the Champions League for next term.
