Charlie Nicholas is backing Tottenham Hotspur to progress to the Champions League quarter-finals by scoring a vital away goal at Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night.
Spurs were 3-0 winners against Dortmund in the first leg last month thanks to second-half goals from Heung-Min Son, Jan Vertonghen and substitute Fernando Llorente at Wembley.
The Bundesliga outfit will need to score five goals if Mauricio Pochettino’s men manage to find the net at Westfalenstadion in the second leg.
Dortmund can approach the second leg with some confidence given that these two sides met in the Europa League round of 16 last term.
The German side were 3-0 winners against Spurs at Westfalenstadion before Marco Reus netted twice in a 2-1 over the north London side at Wembley.
And former Arsenal striker Nicholas is tipping Tottenham to get on the score-sheet in a 3-1 loss to Dortmund to secure their place in the Champions League last eight.
“It’s not over, the way Spurs are going through things at the moment,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“There’s some tidying up to be done. Spurs are on the ropes, not playing well, the effort and energy is there but defensively they’re vulnerable.
“Pochettino doesn’t know what his best centre-back pairing is, it’s disrupted them.”
Nicholas added: “Dortmund were the better team at Wembley in the first half but ended up losing 3-0 so we know how quickly this can turn – I think Spurs need a goal to get through, and I think they will because there’s a goal in them.
“It’s going to be a nervy night, but Dortmund will have to go gung-ho which helps them.”
Tottenham have not won since their triumph over Dortmund after losing 2-1 at Burnley and 2-0 at Chelsea FC four days later before Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home with Arsenal.
Worryingly for Spurs fans, Pochettino’s side have lost their last four away matches in all competitions – having won the previous five – conceding two goals in each of them.
Tottenham striker Harry Kane has scored against Arsenal and Burnley since his return from injury.
