Bryan Mbeumo reveals that he only ever wanted to go to Manchester United after sealing his move from Brentford.

Despite well-documented interest in the Cameroon international from other Premier League clubs, his desire to move to Old Trafford ultimately helped force the move through.

An efficient, reliable forward, Mbeumo started all 38 of Brentford’s Premier League matches last season – a sign of the trust shown in him by former manager Thomas Frank.

He also enjoyed his best scoring season to date, racking up 20 goals from the right flank, taking the goalscoring burden from former teammate Ivan Toney.

Mbeumo’s new manager Ruben Amorim will be hoping for similar numbers from his new number 19, with goals a major area of improvement from the Portuguese coach’s first season at Manchester United.

In his first interview at United, he revealed Amorim’s ‘values’ which helped sell him on the move to Manchester.

Bryan Mbeumo reveals Ruben Amorim’s value after making Man United transfer

Amorim has experience of winning league titles as a manager, triumphing as recently as last year with Sporting Lisbon.

Speaking to MUTV, Mbeumo named this as a key factor in his decision, with Arsenal and Tottenham among the other Premier League clubs thought to have held an interest, but missing out on him to the Red Devils.

The new forward signing said: “I think [Ruben Amorim and Thomas Frank] have similar values. He seems very close to his players.

“And his mentality, his winning thinking every time. This is the thing that I need.”

After making quite the step up to the Premier League with Brentford, Mbeumo will now be looking to make an impact with Man United.

There’s quite a challenge first up, as his new club take on Arsenal in their first match of the season.

Man United transfer activity after Bryan Mbeumo move

Despite forking out around £70 million for Mbeumo, a striker remains a key desire for Amorim and Manchester United.

Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee’s lack of reliable goalscoring last season has left their attack still feeling incomplete, even with the addition of the Brentford star.

With Viktor Gyokeres reportedly set to complete a move to Arsenal, INEOS will seemingly have to turn their attentions towards other goalscoring targets if they are to add more attacking firepower during this window.

After the club’s worst league finish in the Premier League era last season, Amorim needs all the help he can get to rediscover the club’s fortunes.
