Marcus Rashford could be given another opportunity to revive his career as a surprise Champions League club prepare a move for the England star.
The future of Rashford has been a subject of much debate in recent months, with all signs pointing to the Manchester United exit door but few suggesting where the 27-year-old will end up.
Rashford enjoyed a successful loan spell at Aston Villa in the second half of the 2024/25 season, but Unai Emery’s side look unlikely to pursue a £40m permanent deal amidst concerns around the United academy product’s wage demands.
A Premier League rival has come to the fore and is reportedly willing to offer Rashford an Old Trafford escape this summer ahead of a return to the Champions League.

Newcastle United are reportedly preparing a move for Marcus Rashford
According to The Sun, Eddie Howe and Newcastle United could make a shock move for Marcus Rashford and offer him a much-needed new home in the North East.
The Magpies finished fifth in the Premier League to secure a place in the Champions League for next season, and will be looking to strengthen an improving squad over the summer while resisting moves for their big-name stars.
The Sun report that Newcastle favour a loan move for Rashford, while The Mirror report that they may be willing to secure a permanent £40m move for the 62-cap England ace.
Barcelona are still said to be Rashford’s dream move, but the Catalan giants are reportedly prioritising other options, amidst links to Athletic Club winger Nico Williams and Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.
The Toon could yet step in and save Rashford from an unwanted return to Manchester, where it is believed that he has no future under Amorim.

What a move to Newcastle could do for Rashford’s career
In a similar way to Aston Villa in January, Newcastle could be just the type of club Rashford needs to be at to truly see him return to his best. Fresh from winning silverware for the first time in 70 years, Rashford could have an important role to play at St James’ Park and a chance to shine in the Champions League once again.
Likely to be used as a strong rotation option for star striker Alexander Isak, Rashford could also force himself into the Magpies starting XI from the left if he impresses Howe.
Rashford has more Champions League experience than the vast majority of the Newcastle squad, and so his know-how could also prove vital as they hope to balance a strong domestic campaign with progression into the Champions League knock-out stages for the first time in the club’s history.
