Arturo Vidal has appeared to pour cold water on talk of the Bayern Munich midfielder moving to Chelsea in the January transfer window.
The Chile international has been linked with Chelsea on a frequent basis since his former Juventus boss Antonio Conte took over the reins at Stamford Bridge in 2016.
The dynamic midfielder won two Serie A titles under the Italian’s charge at the Turin side before Conte left to take over the reins of the Italian national team.
Vidal has established himself as a top midfielder in Europe despite his tendency to indulge in a reckless challenge or a hot-headed moment.
Chelsea summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko has struggled to adapt to the Premier League since his £40m switch from Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco in the summer.
Alternatively, the Blues made the surprise decision to sell Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic to their title rivals Manchester United back in August.
Vidal would be a good addition to Conte’s midfielder, although the Italian coach could struggle to accommodate his plehtoroa of central midfielders following the addition of Ross Barkley last week.
Asked about transfer speculation linking the Chile star with a move to Chelsea, Vidal told Sport1:
“Yes, I’ve heard about it, but I’m fully focused on the season with Bayern and I’m only looking day-to-day.
“We’re a great team and we have big goals.
“We want to win every trophy. That’s what my focus is.”
