Danny Murphy: Liverpool FC can attract bigger names than Chelsea FC

Danny Murphy has suggested that Liverpool FC’s stability under Jurgen Klopp could lure big names to Anfield instead of Chelsea FC.

The Reds finished in the Premier League’s top four after Chelsea FC failed to beat Huddersfield Town in their mid-week game before a 3-0 loss to Newcastle on Sunday.

Liverpool FC ended up five points ahead of the west London side after their comfortable 4-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Virgil van Dijk completed a world record £75m switch to Liverpool FC from Southampton in the January transfer window.

The Netherlands international was also linked with a potential move to Chelsea FC but ultimately ended up at Liverpool FC.

The Merseyside outfit have made significant progress in the Premier League and the Champions League under Klopp this season.

Chelsea FC, on the other hand, struggled to defend their top-flight crown to heap pressure on their Italian head coach.

Former Liverpool FC star Murphy believes the Reds could find it easier to convince players to move to Anfield rather than Chelsea FC.

“Klopp has a long-term plan and wants to be at Liverpool for a number of years,” Murphy told the Evening Standard.

“Perhaps that was what persuaded Virgil van Dijk to move to Anfield instead of Stamford Bridge. Although there are some exceptions, players like stability — and you don’t get that at Chelsea.”
