Jose Mourinho has declared that he misses John Terry after confirming the Chelsea captain won’t be fit to face Manchester City in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday.

The 32-year-old, who had been touted for an unlikely England recall ahead of the World Cup, is currently nursing a gluteal strain which has kept him sidelined since their 1-0 win at The Etihad.

Mourinho revealed that Terry’s injury isn’t serious but the Chelsea manager and the club’s medical department are not willing to risk the Blues skipper suffering a more serious injury.

“His problem is the same; a gluteal problem,” Mourinho said.

“It’s not a dangerous muscle but the pain is there and not comfortable and we’re not going to risk a bigger injury when it is still small.

“I keep saying what the medical department tells me. Every game he doesn’t play, they tell me the next match. The next is eight days and hopefully it is enough.”

He added: “I miss him.”

Earlier in his media conference previewing Chelsea’s FA Cup clash at City, Mourinho confirmed that current England international Gary Cahill won’t face Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

“I think Cahill is not [fit],” Mourinho said.

“He was injured in the calf against West Brom and didn’t finish the training sessions in the best condition and he is going for a scan. He tried to train.”
