Celtic’s search for a centre-back is seemingly now over, with Jahmai Simpson-Pusey set to join the Scottish champions on loan from Manchester City.
Simpson-Pusey was spotted in Celtic colours as he watched the Hoops’ 1-0 win over St Mirren on Sunday, indicating that a confirmation of the transfer is imminent.
The teenage defender would be Celtic’s sixth signing of the summer, and the first since Shin Yamada in mid-July.
Yet still, as the days continue to pass without an official announcement, supporters are growing frustrated. Brendan Rodgers confirmed Simpson-Pusey’s arrival before the St Mirren match, but this was not followed up by a club confirmation.

Celtic fans react to hold-up in announcement of Jahmai Simpson-Pusey transfer
This would be far from the first time that Celtic fans have aimed criticism at the club’s hierarchy, with the transfer activity (or lack thereof) from those upstairs at Celtic Park a regular source of discontent.
Despite everything apparently being in order for the teenage defender’s arrival to be completed, the lack of swiftness in this taking place has disgruntled some fans on X.
One fan said: “Simpson-Pusey. Literally pictures of him sitting at the game, with the players, in Celtic gear the lot. And he’s still not been announced. Utter shambles in every single way the now.”
Another added: “Welcome to Celtic Simpson-Pusey. Maybe.”
“Can’t wait for Simpson-Pusey to be announced on deadline day at this rate,” another supporter said, irate over the wait.
One other fan said: “Just a small reminder. Now it’s Tuesday and the young lad still hasn’t been announced. Hello Celtic?”
“Welcome to Celtic FC Jahmai Simpson-Pusey. Wait what, he’s still not signed?”
“Why does it take us so long to announce signings, seriously?”
It shows the growing frustration that fans are beginning to have over the situation as the transfer window heats up.

Who is Jahmai Simpson-Pusey?
Simpson-Pusey made his first-team breakthrough at Manchester City midway through last season, before moving back to their Under-21 side and being named Premier League 2 Player of the Season.
Described as a quick, two-footed defender, the teenager’s in-possession qualities made Pep Guardiola trust him in first-team action in the Champions League and Premier League.
He also appeared in a friendly against Celtic last summer, playing 64 minutes as Brendan Rodgers’ side ran out 4-3 winners. He was not involved in City’s pre-season fixtures this time around.
Despite being involved in the toughest period of his side’s season, he was praised by his manager for his composure and duels, earning multiple suitors this summer.
He will now compete with the likes of Liam Scales and Auston Trusty for a centre-back spot at Celtic, as the Champions League play-off round approaches.
