Diego Costa should remain at Chelsea and win more silverware, Wayne Bridge says.
The Spain international has scored 17 goals and has made five assists in 26 games in the Premier League in the current campaign.
Costa has been a key part of Chelsea’s title challenge under Antonio Conte to help the west London side ease towards a second top-flight crown in three seasons.
Chelsea have been contending with transfer speculation surrounding their centre-forward throughout the 2016-17 season.
Indeed, Atletico Madrid have been linked with a move to bring their former striker back to Vicente Calderon after Costa was sold to Chelsea back in 2014.
However, former Chelsea defender Bridge believes Costa should continue to work under Conte at Stamford Bridge and win more trophies in the coming seasons.
“I like Costa as a character, he’s entertaining and a nightmare to play against,” Bridge told BetStars.
“His relationship with the manager [Conte] is good, obviously, it didn’t seem to be under Mourinho. I don’t see a need for him to leave Chelsea, he should stick around and win a lot of trophies at Stamford Bridge. The Premier League would miss him.”
