Jurgen Klopp singled out Adam Lallana for special praise after Liverpool’s dramatic 2-1 win over Burnley in the Premier League on Monday.
After a goalless first half at Turf Moor on new year’s day, Sadio Mane had given the Reds the lead in the 61st minute to send them on their way towards victory.
However, Burnley grew into the game and equalised in the 87th minute thanks to Johann Gudmundsson’s goal.
But it was Liverpool FC who were celebrating at the final whistle, when Ragnar Klavan scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to hand the Reds a crucial victory and leave them in fourth place in the Premier League table.
Lallana was in impressive form throughout the game as he played 86 minutes on his first start of the season in the Premier League for the Merseyside outfit.
And the Liverpool FC boss was absolutely delighted by Lallana’s contribution in the game.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the final whistle, Klopp said: “Adam Lallana was great, after four or five months out, performing like this. I
“t’s not easy at this time, the whole team applauded Sadio Mane when he came in because we needed that goal. He is not playing at his most fluent but a great goal.
“Six points in two days – I’ve never had that before.”
Liverpool FC will return to FA Cup action on Friday night when they take on local rivals Everton at Anfield in the third round.
Virgil van Dijk could make his Liverpool FC debut during that game following his big-money move from Southampton.
