Stoke have told Liverpool FC to forget about signing Jack Butland in the January transfer window, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Express is reporting that Liverpool FC were weighing up a £40m bid for the goalkeeper this month but the Potters have informed them that he is not for sale in the mid-season window.
The same report carries quotes from new Stoke boss Paul Lambert, who say there is “absolutely no way” Butland will be allowed to leave the bet365 Stadium this month.
Liverpool FC are thought to be considering making a move for a new goalkeeper as Jurgen Klopp seemingly struggles to pick between Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet as his number one between the posts.
If the report in the Daily Express is to be believed, however, it would seem that it is far more likely that Liverpool FC will wait until the summer before assessing their options.
Liverpool FC have already been busy in the January transfer window after confirming a deal to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton at the turn of the year.
The Reds also agreed to sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona after the relentless speculation linking him with a move to Camp Nou.
