Maurizio Sarri has admitted that he is not sure whether he will start Callum Hudson-Odoi for Chelsea FC’s trip to Liverpool FC on Sunday afternoon.
The 18-year-old has been earning rave reviews in recent weeks and he started Chelsea FC’s 2-0 win over West Ham United in the Premier League last Monday night.
However, Hudson-Odoi was left out of the matchday squad for Chelsea FC’s 1-0 win over Slavia Prague in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Attentions will now turn towards Chelsea FC’s crunch clash against Liverpool FC at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
Sarri felt that Hudson-Odoi simply needed a rest on Thursday night and says that he has not yet made a decision about whether he will start on Sunday at Anfield.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Thursday night about Hudson-Odoi, Sarri said: “In my opinion he needed to rest. In this match he was out. Emerson was also out.
“Of course he [Hudson-Odoi] is in my mind for the next match [at Liverpool FC], but I have to see the last two training sessions.”
The England international – who made his full debut for the Three Lions last month – has scored four goals and made two assists in eight Europa League appearances so far this season.
He has also notched up one assist in the Premier League, making eight appearances in the English top flight so far in total. He made his full Premier League debut in the 3-0 win over Brighton on 3 April.
