Aly Cissokho says he hopes to learn from Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers after the defender completed a season-long loan move from Valencia.
The France international, who is Liverpool’s fifth summer signing, passed a medical at the 18-time English champions before penning a deal with the Reds, becoming the club’s fifth summer signing.
Cissokho, who was part of the Lyon side which secured a 2-1 victory at Anfield in the Champions League in 2009, will provide Jose Enrique with competition for the left-back spot.
“I’m very happy to be here. I think we have a great team and great fans and together we can achieve big things,” Cissokho told Liverpool’s website.
“It’s going to be a great experience to be able to rub shoulders with the club’s top-quality players. I have experience in the game, but coming here there will still be lots of things to learn and discover as I work with everyone every day.
“I can learn from my new manager, get to know the new style of play here, familiarise myself with different opposition teams and learn the language.
“It’s going to be a great experience for me, and of course playing for the club for the first time is something I’m excited about.”
Cissokho has previously played for Lyon and Porto, as well as parent club Valencia, while the defender has earned one France cap.
