Manchester United’s path to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has cleared after Juventus pulled out of a deal to sign the Lazio star, according to a report in Italy.

Italian media outlet Tuttosport, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that Juventus chief executive Beppe Marrotta has ended negotiations with Lazio over a deal for the 23-year-old attacking midfielder.

The same article states that Juventus are refusing to bid in excess of £62m for the Serbia international to bring to a halt their negotiations with the Rome outfit.

According to the same story, Lazio president Claudio Lotito wants a staggering £132m for Milinkovic-Savic in the current transfer window.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United would be willing to meet Lazio’s inflated asking price given there are other areas of Jose Mourinho’s squad that need attention this summer.

Milinkovic-Savic scored 12 times and made three assists in 35 appearances in Serie A in the 2017-18 season.

The Serbian star has netted 22 times in 125 games during three seasons at the Italian club.

Manchester United have already signed Brazil international Fred and Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot in the summer transfer window so far.

The Red Devils finished in second place in the Premier League table last term.
